State Sand Greens hosts more than 170 players at Boyup Brook Golf Club at weekend

Mayanup became the place to be for golf competitors last week as the Boyup Brook Golf Club hosted the 44th State Sand Greens from Thursday-Sunday. Perth Golf Network’s Adam Davey won the State championship title, scoring 71-75 for a total of 146, while Rodney Shemeld from Goomalling and Hartfield’s Daniel Negus came in second and third, both on 148. It was Davey’s sixth State Sand Greens championship title, having won his first at Denmark Country Club in 1994. He now shares the record for most championship titles. In the 4BBB competition, Brookton Golf Club’s Ryan Sheridan and Vance Blechynden came out on top with 45 points, while Ron Coppock and Eric Hall from Narrogin Golf Club, and John Aldridge and Phillip Crute from Brookton Golf Club tied for second on 44 points. Manjimup’s Wayne Edwards, who placed 16th in the main competition, was the runner-up in the seniors’ competition, behind Watheroo’s David Glover.
