WA Liberal Party launches Warren-Blackwood candidate’s campaign

The WA Liberal Party officially launched its Warren-Blackwood campaign on Saturday with the opening of the candidate’s office on Rose Street. Warren-Blackwood candidate Wade De Campo opened his office in Liberal House on Rose Street in Manjimup and celebrated with an evening event at the Power Up Museum. Party leader Libby Mettam, deputy leader Steve Martin, Liberal Senator Slade Brockman and South West MLC Steve Thomas attended with the event announcing their policies and visions, followed by a community Q&A session. Mr De Campo said he was up to the tall task of representing a diverse electorate, which includes shires with competing wants and needs. “This seat’s diverse — it goes through five shires and goes from Denmark, Margaret River and Cowaramup, and goes across to Bridgetown and Boyup Brook,” he said. “There’ll be some great initiatives coming out surrounding water regulation, a future timber industry — and we think there will be a future timber industry — and other various things that policies will flow out.” Ms Mettam said voting for Mr De Campo would ensure better representation. “Right across this State, our farmers, small businesses, our fishers, foresters and innovators have been let down by a Government focused on one project and one project only,” she said. “That has been Metronet — a project that has blown out from $3 billion to over $13 billion, and while we have seen workforces under incredible pressure, there are only certain workforces that this Government is interested in. “In summary, this is a Government who are most resourced in the country, whether it’s by sheer number or sheer royalties — thanks to the Coalition’s delivery of a fairer share of our GST — but have lost their way. “What we are focused on are the right priorities for Western Australia, (which) we’ve already announced some of them and we’ll be announcing more in the lead up to the election.”
