WWHA: Warm winter weather encourages some fierce, fun competition in all hockey grades at the weekend

The warm winter weather made for an incredible day of hockey at the weekend, with two competitive games resulting in draws in the higher leagues of the Warren Women’s Hockey Association and some fierce competition in C-grade. In A-grade, Violet Femmes drew with Cougars 2-2, while Robins forfeited leaving Nationals with a default win of 3-0. Goal scorers included Violet Femmes’ Lizzie Hurrell and Amelie Windberg and Cougars’ Hayley Ryan (2). Match MVPs were Mel Waters from Violet Femmes and Hayley and Elle Ryan from Cougars. The results were mirrored in B-grade, with Violet Femmes and Cougars battling out a 2-2 draw, while Robins also forfeited as Nationals took the win 3-0. Goal scorers included Violet Femmes’ Shola Sinclair (2) and Cougars’ Joanne Ramiro (2). Match MVPs were Amelie Windberg from Violet Femmes and Katie Crosby and Ramiro from Cougars. Keep an eye out for all the players in pink this Saturday in honour of WWHA’s charity round, when the clubs intend to raise awareness and funds for this year’s chosen charity, Share the Dignity.
