A crash on a busy stretch of Mitchell Freeway southbound is wreaking havoc for drivers heading home for the weekend.

The crash was located before Vincent Street in Leederville, and was reported by Main Roads at 3.55pm.

The left emergency lane was closed by Incident Response, and debris is spread across lanes.

Main Roads urged motorists to drive with caution as several people were reported out of their vehicles.

The crash has since been cleared.

A crash in the Northbridge tunnel is also causing chaos just kilometres away.

The right lane of the tunnel eastbound on Graham Farmer Freeway was blocked by the crash.

The crash has since been cleared, but traffic remains slow on approach.
