Crabber dies after being pulled from the water at Leschenault Inlet

A crabber has died after being found unresponsive in the water of a popular estuary in WA’s south west. Police were called to the Leschenault Inlet in Australind about 7.40pm on Saturday after the man, aged in his 60s, was spotted unconscious in the water. A member of the public managed to pull the man to shore and started providing emergency first aid before St John WA arrived but he could not be saved. It is believed the man was crabbing at the popular inlet about two hours south of Perth when the tragedy occurred. The inlet separates the mouth of the Collie River and Indian Ocean. The death is not being treated as suspicious but Australind Police are investigating. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
