Perth-bound Qantas flight passengers diverted following mechanical smell

A Qantas flight from Canberra to Perth was diverted to Adelaide overnight due to a mechanical smell on board.
A priority landing was issued for flight QFA85 coming into Adelaide, as it was after curfew hours at the airport when the aircraft arrived at 1am.
Some passengers chose to stay in the lounge overnight for a few hours, while others went to the offered hotels before boarding another aircraft early on Saturday.
The new flight, Qantas 883, landed in Perth at 7.53am.
Qantas apologised to passengers.
“We know that this would have been a frustrating experience for our customers and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” a spokesperson said.
“Passengers have been re-accomodated on flights this morning from Adelaide to continue their journey to Perth.”
