Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe was a welcome sight on the training track at Optus Stadium on Tuesday, just four days after his latest injury setback.

The dual Brownlow medallist was on light duties during the closed main training session after avoiding serious damage to his left hamstring.

Fyfe is expected to push for a late-season return in either round 23 against Greater Western Sydney in Canberra or the start of finals.

On Monday, Fremantle footy boss Peter Bell said Fyfe had escaped serious damage.

“He’ll undertake a reconditioning program that is KPI based, so we can’t put a timeframe on it, but it is his good side so we’re quite positive,” Bell said.

Ruck-forward Rory Lobb joined in main training but was wearing the red hat which means he was still non-contact as he works his way back from a chest and shoulder issues.

His right shoulder was heavily strapped after he didn’t have any strapping on Monday.

Lobb, Fremantle’s leading goalkicker for 2022 with 30, is pushing to play in the Friday night blockbuster against Melbourne at Optus Stadium in what’s likely to determine the club’s top-four hopes.

The Dockers are confident the 29-year-old will face the Demons in a massive boost for Sean Darcy as he comes up against premiership stars Max Gawn and Luke Jackson in the ruck.

Bargain recruit Will Brodie still had some bandaging on his left quad in a worrying sign three days out from the blockbuster clash.

The players trained in retro 3D anchor jerseys which they will wear on Friday night as part of retro round.
