A well-matched clash marked with aggressive offense and tough-as-nails defence pitted the Tropics against the Dribbers in round six of the Manjimup’s men’s basketball competition. The skirmish had both sides putting up a tough front throughout the first half at the Manjimup Recreation Centre last Wednesday. Josh Herdigan, Tyson Fall, Jye Pedretti, Ben Percival and Riley Church all scored for the Tropics. For the Dribblers, the points came from Scott Birkhead, Travis Clark, Noel Mondejar and Jason Buckley. The Dribblers continued to lead in the second half with intense play from all players and points scored by Noel Mondejar, Thomas Johnston, Scott Birkhead, Adam Buckley and Jason Buckley. The Tropics managed to temporarily disrupt the Dribblers with defensive tactics and baskets scored by Ben Percival, Taj Russo, Tyson Fall and Jye Pedretti. However, it wasn’t enough to stop the Dribblers from sweeping taking the win with a final score of 32-17. In the men’s senior competition, the Redbacks toppled the Warriors 34-25, the Barracudas defeated the Raiders 59-38, the Dingoes beat Hawks B 56-38, Purple Cobras were victorious against the Yabbies 57-28, and Hawks A nabbed the victory from the Wolfpack 48-26. In the women’s A-grade competition, the Comets Red took a 30-point victory against the Aces 57-27, the Slam Drunks won against the the Mystics 37-30, and the Pink Ladies drew with Senators Yellow 30-30. In the women’s B-grade competition, the Saints won against Senators Blue 23-21, Aus Stars defeated the Diamonds 23-21, the Comets U19 beat Magpies Blue 33-31, and Magpies Orange took a three-point win against the Bush Chooks 18-15.
