AFL: A month after lowly Essendon shocked GWS, can West Coast do the same against the Giants to half their nine-game losing run?

The Eagles will be desperate to salute in what is their final road game of the year, but Adam Kingsley’s side is still an outside chance of sneaking into a wildcard spot.

Stay across the latest here, with play to begin at 11.40am WA time.

QT: Greater Western Sydney 32, West Coast 31

It’s clear to see neither of these two teams have much to play for but we are getting an entertaining game.

There was 10 goals kicked for the quarter, including Toby Greene getting one with just seconds left on the clock.

Kelly and Reid lead the disposal count with Clayton Oliver chasing them up.

Both forward lines are also working well with far too much space being afforded.

Huge hit

McCarthy has worn a huge bump to spoil a mark and went down hard.

He copped a bit of a head knock and will need a concussion test.

However, the spoil allowed the Eagles to get to the other end and see Baker slot a fifth team goal for the quarter to take the lead back after the Giants got rolling through their big forwards.

Radar on

The Eagles have finally found their goalkicking radar, and it’s been hiding in Western Sydney!

They have kicked four straight goals after conceding first blood to the Giants.

Cole and Murdock have slotted the last two.

GWS 8, WCE 24

One each

The Eagles gave away the opener with not following their men down the ground but make up for it with sharp corridor play.

Waterman gets the goal on the run and he moves to 47 goals for the season.

Underway!

Reid wins a free kick to start the game and bombs to the top of the square.

Shanahan flies high but drops the mark and we have a contest back outside 50.

“Control him”

Adam Kingsley says the Giants have a big focus on stoping Harley Reid after he tore them apart in Perth.

The youngster is still hampered by a corky and has not trained much this week.

Grandma in the house!

Christine Roberts, the grandmother of Giants WA youngster Joe Fonti and West Coast star W midfielder Ella Roberts, is at today’s game to watch on.

She had not been on a plane for 30 years before flying over to watch her grandchildren play.

Bedford latest

Bedford is out with a bad back. Stone has already played a half in the VFL this morning.

LATEST OF CHANGE

GWS have made the latest of late changes with Conor Stone in for Toby Bedford.

No late changes

Both sides will go in as named, meaning Bo Allan will be the unused traveller for the Eagles in Sydney.

Our man on the ground Mitchell Woodcock says it’s a cool but clear day at the Showgrounds venue - but don’t expect a bumper crowd for this one.

Coincidentally, this clash comes 10 years to the week since one of the venue’s absolute classic clashes: Nic Naitanui’s last-second left-foot snap to lift the Eagles past GWS in 2016.
