You might not understand them, or even love to hate them, but being an ‘influencer’ in 2026 takes more than just genetic gifts or wealthy parents.
For Perth’s Bree Connor, who has modelled on France’s southern shores and partnered with hotels in Mallorca, it’s about viewing herself as a “walking brand” and appealing to an audience she understands.
Passing her wisdom down to the next generation while remaining firmly in focus herself, Connor — real name Bree Conte — has launched the city’s first influencer-led influencer agency, The A List AU.
Behind the carefully curated scenes and flawless make-up, she said there’s a level of discipline and business strategy most people don’t see.
“I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that influencing is easy or purely aesthetic. The reality is that strong creators are strategic. They understand brand alignment, audience trust, and how to create content that doesn’t feel like advertising but still converts,” Connor told PerthNow.
“The industry has shifted, audiences are more aware, and they expect authenticity, not just promotion.”

The 34-year-old’s new venture seeks to “bridge the gap between brands and influencers in a way that actually works for both sides”.
While she admits the West Coast market does not compare to the scale of the East, the other side of the country represents a benchmark for what could be achieved locally.
The businesswoman is also a key pillar of Instagram-focussed marketing and PR firm Now Socials Co.
And while Friday night what was billed as a celebration of Now Socials’ first Perth headquarters, guests were unknowingly invited to the birth of Connor’s surprise project.
Starting small, she hopes to take it farther than the confines of our State.
“In terms of scale, we’re building this to operate nationally, working with brands and talent across Australia, while continuing to elevate the standard of influencer marketing,” she declared.
Hearing the news first hand was a checklist of local media personalities, business owners, and content creators.
Prominent guests included The Bachelor’s Irena Gilbert, Love Island’s Krissy Bertone, Miss Universe Australia alumni Briana Demaio and Ally Chandler, and creators Bernadette Seno and Maddison Kelly.
