One lucky West Aussie could make lotto history on Thursday night if they take out Australia’s record-breaking $200 million Powerball jackpot.

The staggering cash prize is the largest lottery jackpot in Australia’s history, surpassing the country’s previous lotto record of $160 million in October 2022.

The chance to beat WA’s previous lotto win is also up for grabs, beating the current record held by 55 gym ladies who won the entire $80 million Powerball jackpot in 2021.

According to Lotterywest Acting CEO Jeremy Hubble, WA has a history of sharing record prize winnings.

“WA’s three biggest lottery wins were all shared amongst friends or workmates in a syndicate,” Mr Hubble said.

“It’s always fantastic to see a group in the Winner’s Room because sharing the joy of a win with family and friends makes the experience extra special.”

Over the six weeks leading up to the Powerball’s jackpot, more than $27.5 million from ticket sales has been raised for the WA community through Lotterywest’s grants program.
