A 15-year-old boy has been rescued on a remote hiking trail after he became stuck on a cliff side, prompting a multi-agency emergency response on Friday afternoon.

The teen was rescued on a walking trail at Mt Chudalup after the Department of Fire and Emergency Services received a call for help at 3.08pm.

The teenager became stuck on the side of a cliff about 20 minutes away from the Mt Chudalup carpark.

Members from the Bridgetown, Bunbury, Manjimup and Nannup State Emergency Service units, alongside Pemberton and Northcliffe Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service crews and Pemberton police, attended the incident.

A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions ranger was also present.

A DFES spokesperson said the rescuers established a vertical rescue operation to safely reach the young man.

“A vertical rescue team was devised with members descending 3m to assist with the extrication,” the spokesperson said.

The teenager was successfully lifted to safety about 7pm before being reunited with his family.

He was not reported to have suffered any serious injuries.
