Magpies continued their winning streak in round five of the Manjimup Netball Association Pool 1 season after defeating South West Electrics 60-50 on Monday. SWE dominated the first quarter with incredible shooting efforts by Kylie Proctor and Jessilee East resulting in the team finishing the quarter five goals in front, 19-14. With some incredible teamwork on display, SWE kept the momentum going and extended their lead to nine goals by half-time, 35-26. Magpies’ Casey Cole and Adele East teamed up in the third quarter, proving to be a formidable force in defence and helping their team claw their way back into the game. A quick position change for SWE due to injury saw the Magpies capitalise on the changes, reducing SWE’s lead to three goals, ending the quarter 43-40. The Magpies came out hard and fast in the final quarter, evening the score within two minutes. Despite their obvious skill, SWE could do nothing to slow the Magpies who converted their nine goal deficit at half-time to a 10-goal lead by the end of the game.
