Busselton Senior High School principal Jennifer McMahon is settling into her new position in the South West

The Busselton Senior High School community has welcomed a new face to the school community.

Jennifer McMahon started as the new principal earlier this year, bringing three decades of experience in education to her new position in the South West.

She said her journey began teaching in the Wheatbelt before moving to schools in Perth and the Pilbara.

It is her third time leading a school, with Mrs McMahon first appointed as a principal at Karratha Senior High School in 2016.

“During my time the school grew from 600 students to 1200 students and we created a thriving school within our community,” she said.

Before moving to the South West Mrs McMahon spent four years as the principal of Greenwood College in Perth.

She described her appointment at Busselton Senior High School as an exciting career move.

“(The) school has high quality teaching staff and fantastic students,” Mrs McMahon said.

“Our challenge is to ensure every child is on a pathway to success and can progress positively through their education so that they have choices and opportunities in the future.”

Since moving permanently to Busselton with her family, Mrs McMahon said she was enjoying being part of the community.

“The Busselton Senior High School student population is diverse in so many ways and I look forward to building the school to cater for all students,” she said.

“Busselton Senior High School is an integral part of the Busselton community. It is vital that we work in partnership with parents and our school community, including primary schools, community organisations and local industry, and I look forward to doing that.”
